- Operate vehicle in a manner consistent with state, federal, Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and District laws, regulations and policies while maintaining a high level of safety during extreme and changing weather, road and traffic conditions.
- Maintain orderly student conduct and behavior while safely operating the vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with student, parents, administrative staff, co-workers and local officials to discuss student conduct, safety, accident, route and/or policy issues.
- Conduct full CDL pre- and post-trip inspections, identifying and reporting vehicle defects and inspecting necessary special need equipment such as wheel chair lift, tie downs, car seats, etc.
- Maintain awareness of accommodations for special needs students and various age levels.
- Maintain proper fuel and engine fluid levels by refueling and adding fluids on a timely basis.
- Properly complete required documentation and paperwork for CDE, law enforcement, Department of Transportation (DOT) and District regulations.
- Must maintain a personal driving record free of moving violations and drug and alcohol convictions.
- Report and accurately convey necessary information to dispatch for “red light runners” while maintaining safety of students inside and outside the bus.
- Maintain proper appearance of vehicle by cleaning exterior and interior, including vehicle seats, walls and floors.
- Participate in safety meetings to stay apprised of current safety issues relating to all aspects of the job.
- Participate in student bus safety programs and conduct emergency evacuation drills.
- Attend classes to update First Aid and CPR certifications as needed.
- Demonstrates the commitment to build and maintain a safe, fair and respectful working and learning environment that honors the cultural diversity of students and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Commercial Driver License (or obtain within 3 months of hire)
- Must be able to speak, read and understand the english language
