      The Virginia Beach Police Department is seeking a critically thinking and self-learning Business Application Specialist I to assist with upcoming technology-related departmental projects while maintaining existing systems and equipment. This member will work as a member of the Police Department Technology Unit.


      Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Provide day-to-day support and account management for Records Management software and several other systems such as Axon Body Worn Camera and/or other applications such Tyler – Brazos system, CAD system, Shotspotter, LInX
      • Assist with the implementation of future application module
      • Serve as power-user for mobile device management software (MDM) and cell phone provider portal
      • Assist with maintenance and inventory of technology assets (hardware and software)
      • Assist with maintenance and inventory of mobile phones
      • Develop and document business procedures for use with division’s applications
      • Develop training materials and conduct end-user training
      • Assist with data entry functions and routine report generation
      • Analyze business operations; identify business needs and business process improvements
      • Liaison with IT Department and/or vendor to resolve software or hardware issues
      • Other tasks/duties as assigned

      Traffic Violations: Any conviction of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to take blood or breath test, eluding police, racing, or leaving the scene of an accident within the last 5 years.

      Drugs : Any involvement in the sale of illegal drugs as an adult. Any illegal use or possession of any illegal drug, including but not limited to heroin, cocaine, hallucinogens, or any derivative thereof (except marijuana) within the last five years. Illegal possession of anabolic steroids within the last 36 months.
