The West Vancouver IT Services (ITS) Department has an opening for a Permanent Full-Time Business Application Support Analyst to join our progressive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the District’s IT team in their journey to demonstrate technology leadership and innovation. Reporting to the ITS Manager, Applicants & Web Services, the Business Application Support Analyst is responsible for initial and escalated support of the District’s business and web applications, identifying opportunities to maximize effective use of specific corporate business applications, resolving software problems, analyzing, documenting and assessing proposed changes to specific business and web applications.
Key accountabilities include:
· Providing technical advice and guidance to co-workers and assisting in training users on specific business applications and software solutions;
· Identifying problems or shortcomings regarding the effective use of software by users, acting as an escalation point on business and web application issues and problems;
· Analyzing requests for changes to specific applications; determining the impact of proposed changes on systems and preparing recommendations regarding implementation of the same;
· Conducting process flow analysis of operations as required; preparing short programs and scripts for data extraction and manipulation;
· Installing system patches, upgrades and peripheral equipment as directed;
· Setting up and modifying business and web application user accounts and rebuilding indexes;
· Performing diagnostic tests of systems; preparing or revising customizations, reports and schemas as required;
· Establishing and maintaining liaison with users and other applicable internal and external contacts and providing advice and assistance to users regarding operation and use of business and web applications;
· Assisting in organizing and delivering user training.
The preferred candidate will: possess considerable knowledge of computer and database applications, business applications, in addition to practices and procedures used in the operation of computer and peripheral equipment and software; exercise considerable independence of judgement and action in responding to user problems; possess the ability to investigate, assess, and resolve software problems and to consult with vendor representatives and technical specialists on the more complex problems and establish and maintain effective working relationships with users to provide advice and assistance.
The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:

Hours of Work:
35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Starting Rate of Pay:
$43.55 per hour (This position has a pay structure with 5 steps, which increase annually)
