      The Information Technology (IT) department is currently seeking a Business Architect to join the IT Strategic Planning team. In this role, the Business Architect will participate in various business architecture roles, with a primary focus on managing the knowledgebase and Bizzdesign software tool. The Business Architect captures and models organizational information and manages the data within a knowledgebase. The knowledgebase is used to support the strategic planning process and enterprise architecture domains by informing and enabling enterprise-wide planning, investment decisions, and data analytics, and helps to align business needs and IT services.

      Location and hours:
      This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.

      About the position type:
      This is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Hennepin County’s IT department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees not eligible.

      At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $4,243.39 that can be earned annually based on performance.
      In this position, you will:
      • Facilitate information gathering sessions using business architecture principles, techniques, and tools.
      • Analyze and organize business information according to business architecture principles, and map and model the information, contributing to the business architecture knowledgebase and the creation of reuseable artifacts used in strategic planning and investment decisions.
      • Promote and socialize the business architecture practice, establishing ongoing buy-in and support for the discipline and its use in strategic planning and investment decisions.
      • Model business information in Bizzdesign and collaborate with business architecture team members to create views.
      • Serve as the Bizzdesign system administrator and manage the engagement with the Bizzdesign consultant.
      • Recommend and enforce Bizzdesign standards and governance processes.
      • Collaborate with IT Strategic Planning Team manager to manage the Bizzdesign contract and needs.
      • Advise on organizational strategy, as it relates to technology investments, in collaboration with strategic planning, technology planning, and enterprise architecture.
      • Collaborate and communicate with employees at all levels across the organization, establishing partnerships and working relationships to mature the business architecture practice.

      Need to have:
      • One of the following:
        • Eight or more years of professional IT experience in a complex, large-scale network environment.
        • Completion of five college/vocational technology courses and six or more years of professional IT experience in a complex, large-scale network environment.
        • An approved Hennepin County IT internship and six or more years of professional IT experience in a complex, large-scale network environment.
        • Associate's degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or related field, or approved certification in an IT program, and six or more years of professional IT experience in a large-scale network environment.
        • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or related field, and four or more years of professional information technology in a large-scale network environment.

        Nice to have:
      • Business Architecture Certification (CBA) through the Business Architecture Guild.
      • Experience working with business architecture, strategic planning, business analysis, and/or enterprise architecture.
      • Experience with the ArchiMate modeling language, enterprise architecture tools, or data modeling.
