- with Business Leaders and Group Leaders to ensure advocacy, throughout the team, of company initiatives such as HSSE/LISI, integrated global delivery (Pune) and will ensure the career development of all staff with their teams, and
- is also responsible for setting the tone, pace and standard for the BC and driving the right behaviours, in line with our values, to create a highly engaged and productive team.
- Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and a source of counsel and advice for the BC.
- Overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the BC.
- Proactively identifying and implementing opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec’s high- performance culture with a focus on talent, productivity and financial performance.
- Partnering with other BCOLs and key leaders to drive collaboration and work sharing across the regions
- Supporting Account Managers to plan and implement client development activities to grow the business.
- Health and safety performance within the BC, including the monitoring of leading (e.g LISI) and lagging indicators and executing on the BC Improvement Plan.
- Continuous improvement and effective management of operational areas within the BC including implementation of improvement plans for underperforming operations within the BC.
- Meet commitments for our Design Centres in Pune and Manila
- Review BC monthly financial results, inclusive of discretionary spend, monitoring forecasts, backlog, EVA, WIP, AFDA, DSO and utilization to identify issues and ensure they are addressed.
- Review of indirect costs at least monthly to help identify opportunities to improve the bottom line
- Responsible for leading the BC’s annual budgeting and business planning process in collaboration with the Regional Director.
- Responsible for the BC budget and achieving net revenue, gross margin, General and Admin (G&A) expenses, and operating income targets.
- Assist regional Business or Group Leaders in the development of regional business plans to align with the Transport Strategy.
- Ensures efficient resource management that is responsive to available workloads.
- Responsible for achieving utilization rate and backlog targets including collaboration with other contributing BC’s to drive up overall utilization firmwide.
- Career Level 7 is the minimum career level for applicants, or 15 years’ experience in consulting.
- Team leadership – demonstrated experience in successfully managing large teams (>50 or more people)
- Financial – P&L responsibility or ownership of KPIs for a region/sector and demonstrated experience and understanding of the financial levers in a consulting business and a proven ability to deliver results, whilst maintaining a focus on people
- Commercial – a sound understanding of contracts and commercial arrangements on projects
- Project Management – demonstrated experience in managing and owning the performance of a large portfolio of projects and implementing recovery plans to address performance issues
- Leadership – a proven ability to successfully manage internal stakeholders across multiple business line and functions to remove internal barriers and achieve a collaborative approach
- BCOL - Planning and Advisory position, it is desirable to have a background in Transport Planning/Advisory but not essential.

About the role
The role of the BCOL is to maximise the profitability of the business centre via the creation of a highly efficient operation. This will stem from effective management of workloads across offices, geographies and business lines and a laser focus on cost control (direct, MBD, admin) in and out of the BC.
