Job Description
- Req#: 2384070
The AWS Business Continuity (BC) team is looking for creative, curious, and highly motivated Principal to join our team. Working with the BC team and internal customers across AWS, you will develop a strategy to push the program beyond traditional BC practices to something that can match the speed, scale, and innovation of AWS. The ideal candidate has built robust resiliency programs in technical environments at large multinational organizations and found innovative ways to assess, measure and treat resiliency risk. To be successful, you must love to build relationships, have an intense desire to understand how the organization works, and constantly think about how the program can better serve AWS. This is an individual contributor, consulting-like role where you will not only be expected to enhance the business continuity program, but be able to clearly and confidently articulate its value and findings to technical and non-technical business leaders. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, both physical and logical, and cloud services is preferred.
The AWS BC program is responsible for coordinating resilience activities across all of AWS that are essential to improving our readiness as organization to handle both external and internal disruptions. With a mix of BC SMEs, AWS technical experts, and data analysts, we assess the criticality and resiliency of AWS people, business functions, physical spaces, and internal IT tools. We are ISO22301 certified, but our mission is to raise the bar of resiliency beyond traditional BC expectations. Our program initiatives are regularly being reviewed with Directors and Vice Presidents, and have buy-in across the entire organization.
Key job responsibilities
• Drive the strategy of the business continuity program at AWS
• Introduce and implement unique processes, methodologies, and metrics that align with AWS unique structure and innovative culture
• Align BC program to appropriate certifications and global regulations
• Be a thought leader on the future of business continuity and global regulations around the resilience of cloud computing
• Partner with resilience teams across AWS to develop a narrative around AWS’ end-to-end model of business continuity planning
• Represent AWS continuity with external stakeholders and BC-related conferences and events
• Be ready to work as a member of the BC team in conducting business impact and risk assessments, identify critical services, define recovery objectives, map critical dependencies, and help them document BC plan needs to drive consistency and attestation.
