THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Development Analyst will be a key member of Global Business Development (GBD) working within the Endowment & Foundation Practice (E&F) across Regional Business Development teams. This position requires collaboration with members of GBD and the investment teams that serve our clients, as well as process management and coordination with key internal partners such as marketing, communications, legal, compliance, accounting, and finance. This position requires significant writing and interpersonal skills to interface with investment teams and senior management of the firm as well as with prospective and existing clients. The position will ‘major’ in managing Request for Proposals (RFPs) to prospective clients and ‘minor’ in all other responsibilities associated with the end-to-end business development process. The analyst role provides the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the core components of our business, building a solid foundation for career development within E&F Global Business Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work collaboratively with investment directors and other members of the business development team to assist in the management of the end-to-end business development process, bringing on new clients to the firm and retaining our existing client base.
· Research prospective clients to better understand each institution’s needs and challenges, to develop competitive positioning, and to arrive at the appropriate service for each client.
· Vet, create, produce, and submit Request for Proposals (RFPs) received by the Business Development team.
· Ascertain which standard responses best fit each question in the RFP and populate text accordingly.
· Collaborate with subject-matter experts around the firm to create custom responses and fill out data tables as requested.
· Ensure responses are approved by appropriate departments, including Legal, Compliance and Human Capital.
· Motivate Investment Directors and senior business development professionals to provide inputs in a timely manner.
· Incorporate high attention to detail and ensure proper formatting prior to final PDF compilation and or delivery to the production team for printing.
· Meet hard deadlines.
· Help keep RFP database current, and proactively identify changes to language and positioning that will create compelling responses.
· Document and upload all activities into CRM system to ensure accurate pipeline analytics.
· Participate in broader business development efforts, including pitch materials, business development strategy, lead generation, and other prospect and client communications to support business development efforts and cultivate a broader understanding of our business for career development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
· BA/BS required
· 1 year of work or related internship experience preferred, but not required
· Strong written and oral communication skills (writing sample required)
· Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize responsibilities
· Ability to work in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment
· Strong project management skills and proven ability to effectively “manage up”
· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
· Excellent Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
· Interest and basic understanding of the financial sector, investments, marketing, business development, client relationship management, and non-profits, and/or a desire to learn and grow in these spaces
· Proposal writing experience is preferred but not required
· Progress towards or attainment of CFA, CAIA, NFA Series 3, or other professional credentials is welcome but not required
· Must be eligible to work without sponsorship or restriction in the US
