      The Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Business Intelligence Analyst. This position conducts data extraction, interpretation, and presentation for reports and special projects from multiple databases. The position will develop and maintain a Business Intelligence reporting infrastructure utilizing analytics packages (i.e., Tableau and SQL). The development of the infrastructure will be done in collaboration with the Division of Technology Services and DAAS Business Analysts. The position is responsible for interfacing with leadership, supervisors and management to facilitate the collection of data, define requirements and drive the development of reporting infrastructure, and development of final analysis and dashboards which may result in participating in the establishment of guidelines and policies.

      This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

      Job Duties:

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Develop, update, and maintain Tableau reporting infrastructure utilizing custom SQL resulting in clear and meaningful reporting of data.
      • Plan, organize and prioritize business analysis project deliverables from inception to completion in collaboration with business stakeholders.
      • Responsible for requirements gathering for business questions of staff and management and develop those technical needs into meaningful reports which enable data driven decision making and may result in participating in the establishment of guidelines and policies.
      • Interface with other team members to analyze and design methodologies for complex data extraction from a variety of data sources and assist other team members in cross-training, quality control and reporting methodologies.
      • Troubleshooting issues and resolve any bugs which emerge in the Tableau reporting environment.
      • Verifies data collected is within required quality standards (QA)
      • Researches tools, framework,mechanisms for data analytics
      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

      Knowledge in:

      • Business intelligence concepts, practices and procedures
      • Data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker etc.)
      • Techniques and methodologies for data analysis and design, requirements gathering, quality assurance and report development
      • Principles and practices of data pulls from a data warehouse/database

      Skills in:

      • Intermediate/Advanced data manipulation from a SQL based database/warehouse/lake and Working on moderately to highly complex BI/data analytic solutions
      • Dashboard/Report Development with Data Visualization tools
      • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with internal stakeholders
      • Providing formal and informal instruction and technical support to end users

      Ability to:

      • Gather, read, interpret, and present data for various reports, end users’ needs and management requests
      • Develop functional and technical specifications for Business Intelligence reports through interfacing with staff
      • Analyze complex data and identify trends in relation to data queries, Compile clear, concise, and accurate reports, and spot inefficiencies and propose solutions
      • Provide and maintain technical support to end users of the database
      Selective Preference(s):

      The ideal candidate for this position will have:

      • Prefer a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Admin, Statistics, Math, Economics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Physics, or a related field; OR
      • 3+ months work experience using Tableau or similar visualization tools, and SQL or other SQL based platforms like Snowflake/Azure etc; OR
      • Completion of an Industry Accepted Certificate Program or Bootcamp. If applicable, list work other schedule info written differently from the standard note below, (e.g. Flexibility in willingness to work longer shift hours or after-hours coverage, if necessary.)
      Pre-Employment Requirements:
      • In-state travel may be required. Driver’s License Requirements Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
      • A.R.S. 41-1968 Employee shall have a valid, unrestricted Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults, prior to the start of their employment.
      • Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

      Retirement:

      State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
