      Job Description:

      The Graduate College and the Office of Financial Aid at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants for Business Systems Analyst I/II positions to support the transition to a cloud-based student information system, Workday Student.

      The successful candidates will focus on the entire Workday Student ecosystem and will analyze and execute work with a cross-functional lens to ensure configuration has considered all possible down-stream and cross-stream impacts.

      This position will assist with configuration and thorough testing of the system to meet business needs. A successful candidate will have experience with campus processes and have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thoroughly document business operation requirements and decisions.

      This will be filled at the Business Systems Analyst I or II level, depending on the candidates experience.

      Business Systems Analyst I Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and is a PS808 pay level.

      Business Systems Analyst II Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience and is a PS809 pay level.

      Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

      I Example of Duties

      • Performs routine research and business analysis.
      • Researches best practices and assists with developing recommendations for business operations.
      • Assists with system development and tests changes for usability, performance, and adherence to standards.
      • Prepares statistical summaries and reports.
      • Advises management and employees on business systems

      II Example of Duties

      • Performs research and business analysis.
      • Researches best practices and assists with developing actionable insights and recommendations for business operations.
      • Participates in design and system development and tests changes for usability, performance, and adherence to standards.
      • Prepares complex statistical summaries and special reports.
      • Advises management and employees on business systems.
      • Works on a variety of complex projects.

      I Level Guidelines

      • Individual contributor position with developing professional and/or technical skills working under immediate to general supervision
      • Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode
      • Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope
      • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained
      • Responds to inquiries and issues, escalating to manager or higher level workers as appropriate
      • May lead projects of limited scope and complexity
      • May provide guidance to students


      II Level Guidelines
