Job Description

- Apply corporate standard procurement processes and procedures
- Review bill of materials (BOMs) and estimated vendor quote with bid summary to confirm accuracy and vendor pricing of all materials
- Evaluate vendor pricing and availability of all material based on budget and schedule
- Ensure all approvals have been received prior to processing purchase orders
- Create purchase order documents and enter purchase order information based on BOMs
- Track assigned projects from the order entry phase to project close out
- Interface with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Field Services, and Accounting to provide high quality materials and services, on time, and at best overall cost
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
- Bring potential problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
- Other duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, supply chain management or a related field is required.
- Experience: Relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement. One year of professional buying experience is required. Industrial or electric utility buying experience is preferred .
- Basic knowledge of procurement processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical information, specifically for high voltage projects
- Good organizational skills which include development of work plans and ability to multitask
- Flexibility to work on an individual project as well as on team projects
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience using MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Position Description: Buyer
Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Suite 400 , Houston, TX 77034
Primary Function:
As a member of the procurement team, the Buyer I performs tasks as assigned for the procurement of materials, supplies, and services for the construction of transmission lines and substations. The Buyer I is expected to have a basic understanding of the procurement process and possess the skills necessary to plan, coordinate, and monitor procurement activities for a given project. Assignments are supervised and are designed to further develop employee’s job knowledge and abilities.
