      Job Purpose

      Purchases small to moderate dollar/small to moderate risk goods and services for all Jackson National Life Insurance locations nationwide ensuring quality of materials and competitive pricing. Processes bids, purchase orders and other purchasing transactions. Negotiates with vendors and assists in new vendor sourcing. Researches proactive buying strategies.

      Essential Responsibilities

      • Solicits bids for small to moderate dollar/small to moderate risk goods and services and processes associated purchase orders for existing contracts.
      • Negotiates with suppliers to ensure best pricing, terms and contracts for purchases.
      • Maintains communication between supplier, department and management.
      • Works with integrity and ethically demonstrates company Core Values
      • Interviews suppliers to obtain pricing and specifications.
      • Monitors suppliers to ensure timely delivery and satisfactory performance.
      • Prepares proposal forms and sends to vendors.
      • Reviews and processes requisitions for stock and non-stock services.
      • Researches potential sourcing options.
      • Records items purchased between departments.

      Other Duties

      • Verifies terminology specifications of purchase requests.
      • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Knowledge and understanding of fundamental purchasing practices and procedures.
      • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Access and Excel and other department software.
      • Effective negotiating skills.
      • Strong customer service skills.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      • Must be detail oriented, organized and able to multi-task.
      • Must be adaptive to change and successful in accomplishing goals.
      • Ability to meet project deadlines.
      • Ability to solve problems creatively.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience required.

      • 1+ years of purchasing experience preferred.

      • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) within 2 years required.
