      About the role


      This position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating more complicated or larger scale materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Responsible order placements from follow-up to completion including arranging delivery. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.


      Responsibilities

      • Identify and recommend suppliers/vendors by investigating potential suppliers; researching parts, equipment, and materials availability
      • Follow the vendor selection review and qualification process
      • Prepare request for quotation, analyze supplier response, negotiate pricing/contracts and confirm purchase within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
      • Negotiate proposals, purchase agreements and contracts
      • Place orders and follow up with vendor to ensure prompt and correct delivery
      • Contact vendors with discrepancies with quantity and quality
      • Works collaboratively with various departments to ensure that the best product, service or materials is purchased at the best price
      • Resolves problems and issues with purchased items
      • Monitors shipment tracking and tracing
      • Completes required reports including the VCAP vendor Corrective Action Requests
      • Responsible for training and mentoring junior staff
      • May also have supervisory responsibilities
      • Additional duties as assigned

      Qualifications

      Education & Experience

      • Must have Bachelor's degree in business or related field
      • Minimum 6 years’ related experience and / or training in purchasing OR equivalent combination of education and experience

      Skills & Abilities

      • Must possess MS Excel/ Word knowledge
      • Oracle knowledge preferred
      • Intuitive ERP System Knowledge preferred
      • Ability to manage high complexity projects within department
      • Ability to manage, recommend and implement at sustaining level supplier agreements for mid to high level risk suppliers
      • Must be an organized self-starter with good reasoning skills
