- Planning and procurement of raw materials, purchased components, and outside services to support production. This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager and works closely with the Sales Support, Production Control, and Inventory Control departments.
- Manage the procurement of materials, supplies, and services to support production and operational needs.
- Source, expedite, negotiate, and maintain supplier relationships, while also contributing to process improvement and vendor performance initiatives.
- Independently manage procurement of chemicals, MRO supplies, and production materials.
- Expedite and monitor delivery of critical materials, especially for high-priority or rush jobs.
- Execute quotations and maintain competitive sourcing practices.
- Coordinate closely with planning and production teams on material availability and schedule changes.
- Trace and resolve delayed or missing shipments, working with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met.
- Review and approve receiving and billing documentation for accuracy and resolution of discrepancies.
- Conduct ongoing supplier market research and support vendor evaluations to optimize sourcing decisions.
- Recommend and implement improvements in purchasing procedures and systems.
- Provide mentorship or support to junior buyers as needed.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and help drive efficiency in the procurement process.
- Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for visits to vendors and suppliers.
- Associate’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field; certification (e.g., CPSM, CPIM) preferred.
- Two to five (2–5) years of relevant experience in purchasing or procurement.
- Certification in APICS, Purchasing or Supply Chain is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
- Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
