- Determine optimal sourcing as appropriate.
- Manage supply base with respect to their ability to supply products in accordance with the organization’s requirements and cost parameters.
- Support commodity strategies and relevant action plans to meet business needs.
- Commodity management of Tooling/Capital.
- Responsible for annual plan on above commodities including economics and cost savings.
- Provide assistance and feedback to suppliers in the development of corrective action roadmaps.
- Monitor commodity influences such as feed stocks, competitive supplier expansions and technology advances both within and outside the company.
- Support plant feedback to suppliers in their development of corrective action roadmaps.
- The Buyer will be responsible for corporate cost savings initiatives and continuous improvement efforts utilizing strong negotiation skills, team leadership and the development of new technologies.
- Four Year College or University Degree or equivalent
- Two to three years professional experience
- Explains moderately complex information to others
- Works within guidelines and policies to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
- Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents
- No supervisory responsibilities but provides informal guidance to new team members
- Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
- Requires conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broadened capabilities
- Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary

- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
- Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury

Position Summary:
The buyer will determine optimal sourcing as appropriate, distinguish between price and cost, manage supply base with respect to their ability to provide products and services in accordance with the organization’s business requirements and cost parameters and support regional and global commodity strategies and relevant action plans to meet business needs; create and execute strategies when applicable. The buyer will identify lean savings projects through supply chain and operations involvement; lead cross functional teams as necessary to realize lean savings and support annual supplier business reviews focused on strengthening strategic relationships in order to improve key Cooper Standard metrics.
