      Job Purpose

      We have an exciting, new opportunity for a Buyer to join our Procurement and Supply Chain team.

      As a Buyer you will be accountable for supporting procurement activities, including call off and mini tender activities and contract management activities as identified within the network or team category plan. You will be working with stakeholders and the commercial teams to understand and challenge demand, executing sourcing strategies and driving value through contract management. This will include undertaking benchmarking to ensure Cadent’s arrangements and Contractor costs remain competitive.

      You will also identify future opportunities with a aim to drive commercial value through sourcing and ongoing contract management activities which will involve engaging and building strong working relationships with stakeholders to identify business needs and a core understanding of the supply chains and market offerings, ensuring best for task solutions for Cadent.

      What you’ll get to work on

      • Executing sourcing strategies for contracts up to an agreed value and profiling supply chain through supplier research and market trends to assess future contract risks and opportunities
      • Driving value by effectively delivering tender events for services, works and/or products, in order to meet Cadent’s needs
      • Proactively manages contracts within their portfolio, ensuring contract issues are resolved effectively
      • Scoping and developing contractual agreements to meet Cadent’s needs
      • Leading supplier relationship management and contract relationship management activities
      • Analysing and forecasting inventory levels and manages stock obsolescence, where appropriate and providing cost and commercial control across Cadent activities for contracts up to an agreed value
      • Ensuring contract payments and claims are within contract terms and ensuring compliance with sourcing and contract management frameworks
      • Resolving contract performance issues and putting in place plans to resolve and monitoring supplier service level and cost performance through KPIs

      Who we are looking for

      Qualifications

      • Relevant commercial / procurement experience
      • Valid UK Driving Licence holder.

      Practical Experience

      • Experience of sourcing and other procurement activities (contract management experience, understanding of cost management and commercial principles, leading supplier meetings including negotiations etc.)
      • Confident in analysing and presenting data to inform sourcing / contract decisions
      • Experience in supporting process improvements to improve the customer experience
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • An understanding of EU and Utility Procurement Directives ideally supported by evidence of running a competitive compliant tender process
      • Able to build effective relationships both internally and/or with external organisations
