      Your Responsibilities

      As a Buyer for John Deere Kernersville (JDK) located in Kernersville, NC, you will r eact appropriately to changes in system-generated material requirements to ensure an uninterrupted supply of material. In addition, you will:

      • Work with assigned suppliers to expedite or push out orders as needed.
      • Coordinate with supplier and Quality Assurance to return nonconforming material, and/or to ensure that all appropriate repair/rework charges are assigned to the supplier.
      • Coordinate with Inventory Control (JDK and Hodge) to ensure that inventory is properly stated in SAP and driving material requirements appropriately.
      • Create purchase orders, transmits orders to suppliers, and transmits forecast to suppliers.
      • Monitor open order status for assigned suppliers and works to eliminate past due orders. Work with suppliers to ensure recovery plans are in place and being followed for past due orders. Recognizes and escalates problems on a timely basis.
      • Resolve shipping, receiving, and invoicing problems to ensure accurate inventory records and prompt payments to/from suppliers.
      • Maintain detailed supplier performance data for delivery results. Analyzes and evaluates supplier performance as input to Supply Base Leaders. Communicates supplier performance data to suppliers.
      • Works with assigned suppliers to drive continuous improvement in quality and delivery; includes requesting and follow-up on formal corrective actions and recovery plans.
      • Files freight claims where JDK product is damaged in-transit and carrier is liable.
      • Monitors monthly freight invoices from Deere. Works with suppliers and Logistics to optimize inbound freight cost, lot size, and inventory levels.
      • Special projects as assigned.

      What Skills You Need

      • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and SAP experience strongly preferred.
      • Previous experience with purchasing and/or inventory control strongly preferred (ordering, receiving, shipping, expediting, invoicing, etc.).
      • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
      • Focused on continuous improvement activities.
      • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7 am to 4 pm with flexibility and occasional Saturday coverage (once a quarter max for Saturday work).

      Education

      Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

      • Bachelor's degree is preferred with a concentration in supply chain, accounting, operations management, or engineering
