      Position Description

      At a Glance

      Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer/Planner to join the Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT.

      Responsible for the Buying and Planning of all finished items.

      Main Job Duties:

      • Analyzes the finished item forecast (and other independent requirements) from Marketing. Coordinates forecast changes and deviations with the Forecast Manager and marketing team.
      • Uses various planning tools to set inventory target levels and delivers releases to suppliers to maintain target levels. ( Safety Stock )
      • Work with the purchasing group on supplier performance in the area of service.
      • Acts as the liaison between Marketing, Customer Service, and Suppliers.
      • Acts as the initial contact for Customer Service inquiries.
      • Monitors supplier deliveries to the plan and takes corrective action where necessary.
      • Identifies, reports and/or resolves back-orders and stock outs, depleted safety stock, and related stock issues,
      • Manages orders for non-stocked items, schedule attainment, customer returned items, scrapped items, inventory plan performance, fill rate compliance.
      • Monitors and controls the deviations made in the engineering data base. (i.e., substitutions, changes in usage, errors, etc.)
      • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

      Qualifications

      Education: BS in Business, Operations Management or related or equivalent combination of education and experience. An APICS certification of CPIM and/or CPM certification is desired.

      Experience: Minimum of two years experience in a manufacturing operation.

      Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

      • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Able to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
      • Must have strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively. Must be familiar with MRP, MRPII, or other formal computerized inventory system.
      • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment.
      • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. Able to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence.
      • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.
