      Founded by Amherst, the full-service real estate solutions platform, Amherst StudioBuilt™ homes is an innovative approach to home development that utilizes offsite construction to create new housing supply at scale without sacrificing quality. StudioBuilt homes are constructed at Amherst’s housing studio in Cuero, Texas as well as partner studios across the Southeast and then installed on site. At full capacity, the Cuero facility will create over 250 manufacturing jobs, making Amherst the third largest employer in the area. The StudioBuilt team is comprised of experienced individuals from all trades, working to continuously improve the production process.

      Position: CAD DRAFTER

      Location: StudioBuilt , Remote

      Job Summary

      We are looking for a highly accurate and efficient CAD Drafter to join our modular construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing detailed drawings and layouts for modular building systems, ensuring precision and alignment with project requirements and manufacturing capabilities. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and production teams to translate concepts and plans into modular-friendly, buildable designs.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Develop accurate 2D drawings for modular building units, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and fabrication details.

      • Modify and update modular design documents to reflect changes throughout the project lifecycle.

      • Coordinate with engineering, architecture, and manufacturing teams to ensure constructability and compliance with modular building standards.

      • Prepare shop drawings and construction documents tailored for off-site prefabrication and on-site assembly.

      • Incorporate structural, MEP, and architectural details into modular layouts using company drafting standards.

      • Maintain drawing files and adhere to version control protocols.

      • Assist in quality control of drawings to minimize manufacturing and installation errors.

      • Support design optimization for cost, weight, and ease of transport and installation.

      Qualifications

      • 2+ years of drafting experience, preferably in modular construction, prefab , or off-site manufacturing.

      • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit

      • Understanding of modular construction techniques, design constraints, and transport logistics .

      • Familiarity with building codes, permitting requirements, and structural integration in modular design.

      • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans and translate them into fabrication-ready drawings.

      • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work across departments and meet deadlines.

      Preferred Skills

      • Experience with AutoCAD families or parametric modular design tools.

      • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or BIM coordination.

      • Field experience with modular unit assembly or installation is a bonus.

      Work Environment

      • Position is remote; however, there is an expectation that the incumbent will work with and in the modular factory on occasio n . While performing the duties of this job onsite , the Team Member may be exposed to noise and wood products.

      • PPE required

      • Position is safety aware.
