Job Description

- This position reports to the Junior Operations Executive, its equivalent if not higher, within the Oil, Gas and Chemicals (OGC) business line.
- In-charge of performing measurements and calibration jobs in accordance with company standards, legal and client requirements.
Specific Responsibilities
- Operate to the highest standards of ethics in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned to achieve respective section’s goals or for own personal, or professional training, education or development as programmed by the immediate supervisor.
- Observance of standards such as: International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Institute of Petroleum.
- Complies with the Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy (QHSEE) policies and supporting objectives including, but not limited to:
- Demonstrates strong obligation to SGS QHSEE policies, procedures and work instructions by actively participating in meetings, projects and events, completes required training, intervenes in unsafe situations, refuses unsafe work, and complies fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSEE
- Perform appropriately and immediately to emergency situations and assists other staff members in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies within the workplace
- Disposes or directs the disposal of waste generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements, and in accordance with SGS Environmental Management System requirements
- Reports all incidents, including near misses and hazards, that may affect the achievement of QHSEE objectives in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting and Management requirements
- Efficiently uses all equipment, including safety equipment, and company owned property in the manner intended and reports any damaged / lost equipment to immediate superior
- Maintains a safe and tidy worksite according to the organization’s 5S program and guidelines
- Maintains awareness of the safety and health related hazards and environmental aspects and proposes action plans to control the risks to immediate superior or QHSEE Coordinators
- Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management
- Fulfills the requirements needed in the success of the QHSEE Management System
- Recognizes the potential consequences of not following the established policies, procedures, and guidelines, including not fulfilling the organization’s compliance obligations
- Ensures that instructions from immediate supervisor are understood and documented
- Prepares necessary forms, materials, equipment and or other requirements related to the job before proceeding to the work site. Preparation includes making sure that equipment is suitable and adequate in terms of updated identification, calibration and verification.
- Physically performs all calibration and measurement activities utilizing a variety of methods and techniques as per company, statutory or regulatory, client requirements and API (American Petroleum Institute) procedures
- Prepare reports and conduct re-checking of reports prior submissions.
- Signs field reports based on measurements services carried out.
- Work in collaboration with client and or facility representative to ensure compliance to agreed specifications
- Ensures equipment fitness and functionality when at custody.
- Prepares and submits complete and accurate measurements and calibration reports and making sure that all fields in the form are appropriately filled out for data integrity purposes.
- Maintains regular communication with the business line team members with reference to job status and or updates
- Ensures to complete attendance on the stages of competency training such as
1) induction period,
2) supervised working period with experienced engineers and
3) continuation of training period throughout employment to keep pace with the developing technology.
- Coach or assists training members within the business line on measurements work and requirements
- Education: Tertiary education from any Engineering courses
- Experience: Fresh Graduate, with related experience
- With basic math comprehension and aptitude
- Computer literate (familiar with MS Windows applications)
- Can self-drive is an advantage
- Must be physically fit to be able to climb storage tanks, vessel gangways, ladders and stairs up to 65 feet high
- Must be able to carry handy loads such as equipment and can able to set-up proving set-ups like petroleum hoses and piping.
- Must have good visions for transit readings
- Knowledgeable in significance of deviations found with regard to the proving results, limits and tolerances or processes concerned
- Has the ability to make professional judgement as to the conformity with general requirements using examination results and to report there on
- Has the ability to keep confidential information obtained in the course of measurement activities
- Knows about the environmental and safety practices within the industry
- Excellent interactive and communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to effectively present information and reply to questions from clients and or regulatory agencies pertaining to the activities associated with the measurement services carried out and in recommending remedial or action items for improvements, as needed
- Must be pragmatic and can follow instructions
- Must be good in record keeping and should be able to make accurate observations
- Could handle tasks in a stimulating work environment such as: outdoor with adverse weather conditions, laboratory, confined space, farm/storage tanks, vessel
- Ability to work effectively even under pressure while performing concurrent numerous projects
- Can work on weekends, holidays and on rotation shift basis (morning, mid or night shift) or even working extended hours
- Willing to be deployed in various project or operation areas, as per business requirements
- Must be able to converse in English
- Has the basic or average knowledge of measurements & proving principles in accordance to American Petroleum Institute (API) procedures and or related standard
- Has a knowledge of the operations /functions of calibration equipment parts
- Knows terminologies used in measurements & proving technicalities
- Can assist and conduct practical and theoretical training in all measurements and calibration activities
- Can work moderate to maximum in all measurements activities that needs direct supervision
- Has a mastery of the petroleum principles in accordance to American Petroleum Institute (API) procedures and or related standard
- Can effectively train, coach and mentor employees of Level 1 by conceptualizing or even improving documented training programs or systems
- Can work unaided with minimal supervision on exceptional cases
- Has in-depth knowledge in the measurements and calibration techniques, trouble shooting and procedure updates
