- Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as: (Family & Systemic Practitioner /Occupational Therapist / Nurse (Mental Health) / Social Worker / Art therapist/ EMHP/CWP
- Senior EMHPs/CWPs with advanced post qualification experience. All applicants must be BABCP accredited or eligible to apply for accreditation within 6 months.
- Appropriate level of qualification for your profession e.g. PG Diploma, BSc, Masters.
- Post Grad training or experience to support the needs of different children, young people and their families
- Mentor/Practice educator qualification
- Experience of working with CYP across the full age-range (5-18)
- Experience of working with parents/caregivers
- Experience of delivering low-intensity interventions for social anxiety
- Recognising when core interventions are appropriate for neurodiverse CYP and being able to make necessary adaptations
- Experience of delivering low-intensity interventions for OCD
- Experience and skills of giving appropriate constructive feedback to professional colleagues at a range of levels in the system, and of following necessary procedures when required
- Able to manage own time and caseload
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments
- Teaching skills, both in clinical setting and education centres
- Understanding of an overarching, multi-component Whole School Approach, and how elements of this interact with one another
- Knowledge, experience, and competence in applying and following Safeguarding legislation and pathways (including contextual safeguarding)
- Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts
- Knowledge of development in inter agency partnership

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for you at Bedfordshire CAMHS within our Dunstable Mental Health Support Team (MHST). The service is a part of our wider CAMHS Access Services (CAS) delivering care through the most accessible points in the community.
Integrated with other partner agencies across Central Bedfordshire Borough and South Bedfordshire CAMHS, you will support schools in the Dunstable area by providing;
- Direct interventions to children, young people and their families, through 1:1, group and whole classroom interventions.
- Support to the designated senior mental health lead in education settings to introduce or develop their whole school or college approach.
- Timely advice to school, college and community staff, and liaise with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.
Bedfordshire has a diverse and vibrant community, which will require candidates to show an awareness of, and interest in, supporting these communities, and to deliver evidence based and innovative care to suit the needs of the local communities.
Main duties of the job
You will provide consultations, triage, mental health assessments, effective brief therapeutic support, including evidence-based low intensity/high intensity early interventions, group work and workshops to prevent moderate to severe mental health problems developing, using the iThrive model.
You will deliver this to children and young people, working across Dunstable and will be required to be flexible, and be able to travel across Bedfordshire.
The post is embedded in the community, and you will have an attached base in CAMHS, and be an integrated part of the CAMHS Access Services multi-disciplinary services and the wider CAMH Specialist Service.
You will need a relevant professional qualification, with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. You will need experience in working with children and families, preferably in a school or community setting. You will need to be able to operate confidently in an environment where IT is the main method of record keeping, communication and program management.
