      The Virginia Beach Field House is currently accepting applications for Camp Coordinator. The Camp Coordinator works cooperatively with the Youth Programs Director to plan and execute indoor and outdoor camp programs and activities that feature creativity, education, and adventure. Additionally, the Camp Coordinator is responsible for the care of safety of enrolled campers and may need to assist in higher needs situations. The Camp Coordinator also will mentor and support the camp staff.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Plan, supervise, execute, and evaluate creative programming for the campers and provide required direction to the staff team

      • Ensure counselors and staff are aware of any medical concerns or special needs within their group

      • Assist with adapting programs as needed to meet the needs of the campers

      • Assist in the supervision of the campers, as needed

      • Evaluate programs to ensure the mission and values of the property are being met

      • Ensure that all supplies, materials, and resources are available to staff as required

      • Relay any concerns of the staff, campers, and general public to the Director.

      • Assist in camp marketing

      • Schedule and perform staff orientation

      • Ensure safety standards and procedures are observed

      • Monitor staff performance and discuss any concerns with the Director

      • Complete a weekly communication report on the details of each camp session

      • Complete an end of summer report to the Director

      • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with individuals of all ages (e.g. campers, staff, and parents/guardians)
      • At least 6 months experience working at a camp or similar recreational setting including the supervision of staff and campers
      • Challenge Course Practitioner Level 1 (preferred), must have the ability to obtain
      • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificates (preferred), must have the ability to obtain
      • This position requires a clear Criminal Background Check including a Vulnerable Persons Search
      • This position requires a clear Child Welfare Check
      • Must be at least 21 years of age
      • Required availability for this Full-Time Seasonal position is May 1 to August 31.
