    • Provides for the safety and security of students, staff and parents by manning the vestibule in the main building. This includes running all visitors and/or volunteers through the RAPTOR System (sex offender background check system).
    • Assisting with evacuation and lockdown drills.
    • Reports illegal activities, questionable or unsafe conditions or problems with security to the Director of Operations.
    • Monitors all non-school personnel and directs them to the office or off the school premises.
    • Evaluates the seriousness of a given situation and calls for assistance if necessary.
    • Assists in resolving conflicts and similar problem situations between students.
    • Directs all general traffic and bus traffic to maintain order in vehicle and pedestrian crossings as needed.
    • Maintains radio communication with school personnel.
    • Develops and maintains positive internal lines of communication with students and staff.
    • Develops and maintains positive external lines of communications with parents, patrons, community agencies, and other public agencies.
    • Supervises students during lunch periods and before/after school by keeping a calm and disciplined atmosphere on the outside grounds, in the cafeteria, library, hallways, and bus lines as needed.
    • Provide security and assistance for extra-curricular activities and other events taking place on the campus of University Schools outside of school hours including weekends, evening and occasional nights.
    • Fulfills other related duties as assigned by Administration or the Director of Operations.
    • Assists Director of Operations in any capacity in the event of an actual threat to the school, its students, staff and parents.
    • Assists in carrying out Emergency Response Plans in the event of an actual crisis.
    • Assist Director of Security and law enforcement when requested.
    • Attend meetings and/or trainings as requested by the Director of Operations.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • The position requires general knowledge of some technical procedures or work activity.
    • Working knowledge of school district practices or basic policies may be necessary.
    • One year and up to two years of experience working with high school or Elementary school students, and/or one year and up to two years of experience in military or law enforcement.
    • First Aid and CPR are preferred.
    • Background check required for hire.
    • Physical ability to separate students or others involved in altercations.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
    • The employee is frequently required to walk; stand; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
    • Requires sufficient arm, hand, and finger dexterity in order to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
    • Specific vision ability required by the job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.
    • Requires visual acuity to read words, numbers.
    • Requires the ability to take precautions against a nominal exposure to health and safety risks.
    • Requires speaking and hearing to communicate in person or over the phone.
    • Requires the ability to walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive arm and shoulder motions with moderate exertion.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
    • Works in standard school building environment and 400 sf vestibule.
    • Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.

      POSITION TITLE:Campus Monitor - (2 positions)
      Position Type: Full Time - 1.0 FTE
      Pay Range: Salary placement on our Classified Salary Schedule, Range 4, is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience. Salary Range: $$17.92 - $30.46/hour, paid over 12 months.
      > Full 2023-2024 Classified Salary Schedule is available online through our website at www.universityschools.com . A Preliminary 2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule is posted pending the approval of the Board in May.

      Our History
      University Schools is in its 129th year of existence. After a 108 year association with the University of Northern Colorado, University Schools opened as a public charter school, at its current location, in the fall of 2002. In the fall of 2013, a new middle school building was added. University Schools is K-12 and enrolls nearly 1,800 students. University Schools continues to be an integral component of UNC’s teacher education mission. University Schools’ faculty and staff innovate and model effective student-centered teaching and learning.

      University Schools has two buildings on one campus: an Elementary/High School located at 6525 W. 18th Street and a Middle School located at 1717 65th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. Greeley is fifty miles east of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Greeley is an agricultural community with light industry and a major Colorado university. The city has a population of 103,900 while Weld County has a population of 269,785.

      Summary/Objective
      Under direct supervision of the Director of Operations, the Campus Monitor assists in maintaining order and helps provide for the safety and security of the students, staff, parents and visitors.
