The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Human Resources co-op student/intern for the Winter 2024 (January to April) work term to support our Human Resources (HR) team with a focus on our Campus Program.

      WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

      The Human Resources intern/co-op will work within our HR department. This is a great opportunity for you to bring creative ideas and solutions to further develop and enhance our existing co-op program and provide valuable improvements to increase the co-op experience at BCI. You will also have the opportunity to learn from and work with experienced Human Resource professionals and industry experts across the corporation.

      WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

      The Human Resources department provides HR leadership across BCI, in direct support of investment return objectives and delivering on BCI’s mandate. The HR department adds value as a strategic business partner, an enabler of change when mandates shift, and serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO/CIO, executive, and the board on all people matters.

      HR supports every person at BCI and serves as a trusted partner to all departments on strategic initiatives and day-to-day HR matters. By focusing on our talent, we ensure the organization has the right people with the right skills supporting and delivering on investment strategies for the benefit of our clients.

      WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

      • Work under the supervision of the Manager, Campus Program and/or Technician, Campus Program, to assist in the review and coordination of all current program activities, and evaluate and develop recommendations for improvement

      • Research various university programs to ensure the attraction of diverse student groups and investigate industry best practices

      • Support recruitment cycle by tracking and posting co-op/intern positions on Workday (HRIS) and various post-secondary job boards, creating and sending offer letters, as well as various onboarding emails

      • Assist with the effective data management, tracking, and reporting metrics for past, current and future co-op students, as well as conducting research on career trajectories and accomplishments of former students

      • Assist in managing the co-op alumni LinkedIn page, brainstorming creative ideas for campus recruiting events, etc.

      • Ad-hoc day-to-day work and special projects as assigned by the Human Resources team

      • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

      • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail

      • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills

      • Commitment to the highest ethical standards and an eagerness to learn

      • Strong research skills combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities

      • Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook

      • Competitive pay:

        • $4,350 gross monthly or $4,700 gross monthly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary.

          • $4,350 gross monthly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate.

          • $4,700 gross monthly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree.

      • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location

      • Work term: Winter 2024 (January to April)

      • Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC

      • Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island

      • All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
