- Completion of school security officer course of training approved by Bureau of Security and Investigative Services of California Department of Consumer Affairs
- Valid California driver’s license and personal automobile for use on District business
- Knowledge of or ability to learn appropriate laws, crime prevention methods, and district policies and procedures
- Ability to work with students in school setting; experience with junior high school age youths preferred
- Ability to use good judgment, poise and tact when working with students, staff and community
- Ability to communicate effectively and write concise, accurate and professional quality reports
- Ability to supervise work of others
- Willingness to work irregular hours
- Supervises students on school grounds, including corridors, restrooms, parking lots, and adjacent areas for purpose of enforcing rules and regulations pertaining to student attendance, behavior and conduct
- Works with student discipline problems as directed by principal; maintains discipline and order on campus and at school activities as assigned; intercedes in and resolves student fights and arguments; prepares conduct referrals
- Cooperates with school personnel and law enforcement agencies in prevention, control and investigation of illegal activities by persons or groups directed against district pupils, personnel or facilities
- Supervises after school detention and programs; supervises evening and weekend activities as assigned by principal
- May supervise work of designated staff members as assigned by principal
- Maintains inventory of assigned school equipment and supplies
- Performs other related duties as assigned

- Evidence of completion of school security officer course (SB1626) of training approved by Bureau of Security and Investigative Services of California Department of Consumer Affairs

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
SALARY: $32.90 - $39.97 per hour
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s
“Improvement of Professional Services” handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and
consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable
NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:
A new employee, or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification, shall serve a probationary period, which shall not exceed one (1) year of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause, without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113, a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position, shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.
