      This position is in the Central Patient building on Sanford USD Medical Center. It is the "face" of the cancer registry team to the cancer program. It works closely with ancillary departments and cancer program staff in the coordination of cancer conferences. It is 5 days per week and there is some flexibility in hours per day. The cancer registry team is a well established, cohesive team with a cohesive culture.

      Summary

      The Cancer Registry Support Specialist coordinates weekly cancer conferences in support of Sanford Cancer Services and the Cancer Registry. The Cancer Registry Support Specialist serves as the face of the registry by building and maintaining relationships with providers and ancillary departments and uses critical thinking in the overall management of cancer conference and cancer registry support work.

      Job Description

      Coordinates and manages conference preparation and follow-up for multiple weekly local and enterprise cancer conferences simultaneously. Collaborates with physicians, ancillary departments, administration, and others for conference preparation and committee work. Assists with coordination of telecommuting process for sites and presentation of cases from across the Sanford Enterprise. Accurately records, tracks, compiles, and manages cancer conference data and assists in reporting data to the Cancer Committee as required by Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards and continuing medical education requirements.

      Provides support to the cancer registrars and assists with other needs of the cancer registry team. May assist with case finding workflows including Pathology Report review and Radiology Report review, assists with patient demographic patient updates, and data analysis. Serves as the cancer conference SharePoint site manager. Manages SharePoint site membership and electronic distribution groups to share information appropriately while maintaining patient privacy. Participates in and supports applicable continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities related to cancer care.

      Completes necessary continuing education to support compliance with CoC and NAPBC accreditation standards and assists with other work to maintain compliance with applicable standards. Requires knowledge of diagnosis coding, morphology coding, and anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Works extensively with electronic medical records and protected health information and is required to adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations and policies related to the same.

      May assist with CoC site reviews including documentation preparation and support during the site review.

      Qualifications

      Associate's degree in Healthcare-related field or 2 years of applicable experience in a medical field required.
