      Department Overview:

      One of the best reasons to be in Madison during the summer is the warm weather and access to awesome lakes. Join the Capitol Boat Club Crew and earn money while enjoying both! Capitol Boat Club is Madison, Wisconsin’s first private boat club on Lake Mendota, providing the most affordable way to boat whenever you want, without the hassle of boat ownership. As of 2021 we now offer pontoon and speed boat rentals as well.

      Schedule:

      • Availability (this is a big one):
        • We are open 7 days a week, from roughly 7:00am - 9:00pm, May through October, with the busiest months being June, July, and August. You must be available to work during these months with extremely limited time off.
        • Start dates for the positions are somewhat flexible, but we are aiming to onboard and train from late-April through mid-June.
        • Holiday, weekend and weekday afternoon/evening availability is a must-have as this is when most members and renters make reservations.
        • Schedules are based on reservations and reservations are dictated by the weather, so you must be flexible and understanding about short-notice schedule changes.

      Salary/Wage Range:

      Hourly $15.00 to $15.00

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      POSITION OVERVIEW

      We are seeking fun, energetic, and hardworking individuals to join our team as Crew Members. Positions are part-time, but may reach full-time hours during the busiest part of the season. What does a Crew Member do? Let’s dive in!

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

      • Uncover/cover, clean, fuel, and move boats as part of opening, closing, and preparing for reservations
      • Perform equipment checks to make sure all necessary equipment is on board per reservations details
      • Manage the pre-departure and post-return process using a handheld tablet or smartphone
      • Welcome, assist, and provide excellent customer service to all members and rental customers during all interactions
      • Communicate safety information and provide training for members and renters according to company policies and procedures
      • Be (or become) knowledgeable about the lake, it’s landmarks, and points of interest in order to provide basic guidance to members and renters
      • Clean and maintain boats and company property according to company standards and schedules
      • Perform or assist management with basic boat maintenance and repairs
      • Work with other Crew Members in a team environment to ensure excellent customer service and the completion of all required tasks
      • Ensure personal appearance is clean and professional
      • Follow all company policies and procedures
      • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
      • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by management
      • Work outside in the elements and stand for an extended period of time
      • Complete the state-sponsored Boating Safety Course

      *Members and renters are encouraged to tip Crew Members for their hard work and great customer service, but we can not guarantee that they will nor can we force them to do so.

      Qualifications:

      • At least 18 years of age
      • High school degree
      • Be able to pass a criminal background check
      • Valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle (highly preferred )
      • Comfortable operating or learning to operate boats (prior experience is highly preferred, but not required. We can teach you to operate a boat. )
      • Strong communication and customer service skills
      • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks during periods of high activity
      • Ability to read and manipulate handheld tablets/smartphones
      • Ability to bend, kneel, balance, and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
      • Have a positive, cooperative attitude with the capability of working unsupervised
