- Completed Foundation Training
- Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications.
- Research and Publication - to have undertaken or shown an interest
- Are able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements specially for teaching undergraduates.
- NHS experience within the last 3 years
- Broad based general professional training in general medicine
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
- Leadership skills
- Understanding and experience of audit
- IT skills and computer literacy
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively. Ability to organise research and work within research governance procedures Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
- MD or PhD Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates
- Have attended Teach the Teachers courses or equivalent
- Energy and enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure. An enquiring and critical approach to work. Caring attitude to patients. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other staff and agencies.

Job summary
1 Teaching Fellow Posts- UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION
Fixed Term: 75% Teaching & 25% Clinical
The main aim of the posts is two-fold. Firstly, to provide clinical training to the Imperial Undergraduate Teaching Programme with an opportunity to gain experience in teaching. This post will provide ample opportunity for audits and there may be an opportunity for research for the appropriate candidate in any desired topic or medical education. The numbers of students based here varies throughout the year. At times there may be greater teaching commitments and at others (particularly June & July) it may be considerably less when the TF may devote much more time to clinical activities and towards pursuing an educational qualification. Thus, flexibility and initiative are essential. The postholder is encouraged to pursue a qualification in teaching and support is available for this through Imperial College. The teaching component of the posts will be accountable to the Director of Clinic Studies.
Main duties of the job
The individual work plan will be decided between the DCS, the relevant Consultant the successful appointee. Teaching duties must take priority, it is not acceptable to work a night on call and take the next day off. They will be expected to attend regular Faculty Meetings.
There are no on-calls in this position

The Teaching Commitment
To delivery cardiology teaching to the Year 6 medical students on their cardiology placement at Ealing Hospital and to work closely with the Cardiology consultants.
Working closely with the Undergraduate Teaching Co-ordinator to ensure that in Phase 1 (a,b,c), (Year 1,2,3) Phase 3a (Year 5) and Phase 3b (Year 6) medical students from ICMS benefit from a well organised curriculum programme.
Contribute to the planning and organisation of the delivery of teaching/Induction at the beginning of each placement.
The teaching will involve a range of activities such as tutorials, skills laboratory, simulation, bedside teaching, and dedicated teaching clinics on an out-patient basis.
Time is allocated for preparation of tutorials, lectures & teaching materials such as handouts. The teaching fellow will be also encouraged to show initiative & develop other teaching ideas such as student case presentations and student grand rounds, working on the AV system and role playing. Imperial College expect a patient-centered approach.
Teaching the FY1s & FY2 on weekly basis, as when required.
