      Position Overview

      Care Force Project Managers will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of Care Force service events and the relationships with Care Force partners. Care Force Project Managers will also assist in the development and training of the Care Force Team, serve the City Year network in related service when needed, and contribute to the overall improvement of the organization.

      Care Force Project Managers will be expected to display spirit, discipline, purpose and pride in leading both community members and City Year corps members, while integrating the needs of our corporate partners. Project Managers will be based out of City Year National Headquarters in Boston, but will be required to travel as needed for event management (approx. 120 days a year).

      Care Force is a division of City Year Inc., whose professional staff engage corporate partners and their employees in high-impact community service events that improve educational, recreational and residential facilities supporting youth and families. Launched in 2001, the Care Force team has engaged over 125,000 volunteers to complete over 600,000 hours of community service. Care Force events have taken place in over 140 cities, in 43 States, and 10 countries. Our fee-for-service model funds our work, and generates additional income to support City Year.

      Job Summary

      Care Force Project Managers will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of Care Force service events and the relationships with Care Force partners. Care Force Project Managers will also assist in the development and training of the Care Force Team, serve the City Year network in related service when needed, and contribute to the overall improvement of the organization.

      Care Force Project Managers will be expected to display spirit, discipline, purpose and pride in leading both community members and City Year corps members, while integrating the needs of our corporate partners. Project Managers will be based out of City Year National Headquarters in Boston, but will be required to travel as needed for event management (approx. 120 days a year).

      Responsibilities

      The Care Force Project Manager will be primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating service events for Care Force Corporate Partners. Additional tasks include:

      • Utilize Care Force processes when developing service events
      • Work on Care Force capacity building and improving projects
      • Assist in the recruitment, development, and training of the Care Force senior corps team
      • Continually act as an ambassador of City Year and City Year’s corporate partners
      • Assist with other City Year priorities when necessary (i.e. Summer Academy)
      • Additional, as necessary, tasks to ensure the success and development of Care Force

      % of Time:

      80%: Managing Care Force partnerships and service events

      10%: Building Care Force Capacity

      10%: Assisting on other organizational priorities and training

      Qualifications

      Knowledge and Education:

      Bachelor’s Degree

      Deep understanding of City Year’s mission and core values

      A valid US Driver’s License

      Necessary Experience:

      1 year experience in developing physical community service projects or related field

      1 year experience in coordinating community and corporate based partnerships

      1 year experience in leading corps members and volunteers or related field

      Skills and Ability (Core Competencies):

      Excellent multi-tasking abilities

      Basic understanding of building and construction tasks

      Excellent organizational and logistic skills

      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

      Flexibility

      Public speaking ability

      Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite

      Google Sketch-up or CAD programming proficiency a plus
