      Job Summary/Basic Function:

      This Career Coach position for the College of Business and Economics (COBE) is primarily responsible for empowering students and alumni through comprehensive career development support, including one-on-one coaching, professional document review, mock interviews, and workshop delivery. A significant portion of the role also involves program development, assisting with the planning, marketing, and implementation of recruiting events, creating engaging materials, and staying updated on industry trends. This role is a 9.5-month position, active while school is in session (August - May).

      The purpose of the job:
      (1) Empower COBE students and alumni with comprehensive career development support, assisting them in self-assessment, career exploration, professional document creation (resume, cover letter, LinkedIn), job search strategies, and successful workforce transitions.

      (2) Support career-related events and assist with student engagement and participation.

      (3) Contribute to the expansion of COBE Career Services, collaborate with staff and other stakeholders; brainstorm ways to build a distinctive Career Services.

      Level Scope:

      Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

      Essential Functions:

      Career Coaching (70%):

      • Coach students effectively across various modalities, including in-person, virtual (Zoom), and asynchronous video recordings.
      • Meet one on one with students to determine academic and career goals.
      • Review student resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles; advise on strategies to enhance these documents according to most current trends.
      • Conduct mock interviews; give productive and encouraging feedback on interview performance.
      • Present career resources to large audiences as well as lead professional development workshops.
      • Advise on graduate school applications and personal statements.
      • Utilize and maintain career management systems (e.g., Handshake).
      • Prepare reports on students and activities as required.

      Program Development (30%):

      • Support logistics, planning, marketing, and implementation of recruiting events, professional development events, and workshops.
      • Create and manage engaging marketing materials for career services and events.
      • Assists with identifying new opportunities and successfully implementing them.
      • Collaborate closely with Assistant Director to determine appropriate career-based assignments.
      • Develop and maintain resources (e.g., resume and interview guides).
      • Stay up-to-date with trends and recruiting practices in business sectors (finance, management, business analytics, marketing, accounting, etc.), employer timelines, expectations, and technical assessment formats. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., University Career Services, alumni relations) to integrate career development.
      • Ensure programs and resources offered by Career Services are aligned with our mission and reflect priorities.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 1+ years of experience in a student-facing role in an advising, coaching, or support capacity. Preferably within a university
      • Proficiency with Google Suite
      • 1+ years of experience working in University Career Services
      • Master’s degree in Business, Education, Human Resources/related fields
      • Experience with Handshake, Peoplesoft, and automated scheduling tools

      Salary and Benefits:
