Job Description

- Assists curatorial staff in all areas of their responsibilities such as collections records, bibliographic and biographical records, files, and general curatorial inquiries.
- Performs work in relation to care of the photographs in the Museum Collection comprising 35,000 objects as well as the Departmental Collection containing approximately 30,000 images.
- Researches and catalogs the Museum Collection and archives under senior curatorial staff supervision.
- Performs in-depth research on subjects such as artists, periods, and countries of origin for each image of interest.
- Identifies exact locations for each image, assigns photograph sources, and rigorously documents the history and provenance of these works.
- Assists in the preparation of checklists and wall labels.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
- Bachelor’s degree and prior experience cataloging and conducting research in a museum, gallery, or art-related institution.
- General familiarity with 20th-century art.
- Knowledge of basic office procedures and skills.
The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Research Fellow in the Department of Photography. This is a two-year, full-time grant funded position.

Salary: The salary for this position is $48,000 per annum.
