      Job Description:

      Responsible for performing and leading installations, repair, and preventative maintenance of metal and wood doors and door-frames, mortise locks, hinges, exit devices, door closers, handicapped door operators, and other door hardware

      Performing, planning, leading, and overseeing completion of site/slab layout and builds forms for slabs, sidewalks, and curbs; uses dig footers to form foundations; installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains dig footers and form foundations; installs reinforcing materials; pours, forms, and finishes concrete; lays block, brick, stucco, ceramic tiles, and marble thresholds; uses a variety of masonry materials

      Mentor and train lower level technicians.

      Performing, planning, leading, and overseeing Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains rigging straps, hoistways, cables, and equipment [Building Maintenance only: Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains fume hoods]

      Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains floor and wall systems, ceiling joist and roof framing, and stair systems. Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains ceiling tiles and ceiling grids

      Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains fixed classroom seating, windows, window frames, and window screens. Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains insulation, waterproofing, and metal framing

      Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains various types of flooring, vinyl and ceramic tiles, wall bases, and molding; builds cabinets and counter tops

      Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains sheet-rock, plaster, insulation, and exterior finishes

      Installs, repairs, and preventatively maintains floor joists and truss systems; reads and interprets blueprints and wall layouts

      Supports other trades and contractors; cleans/maintains shop and all related equipment

      WORK SCHEDULE:

      Varies, On-call and swing shift as assigned

      Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy

      Must have a valid State of Florida Class E operator license

      A criminal background and post-offer health assessment will be conducted.

      Expected Salary:

      $23.00 - $24.50 Hourly based on experience and certification.

      Minimum Requirements:

      High school diploma and four years of appropriate experience in carpentry related work; appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience

      Currently NCCER Certified Plus in trade or pass NCCER knowledge verification. Complete CORE and a trade specific Critical Task Assessment within 6 months.

      KNOWLEDGE:

      Expert knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance and repair work

      SKILLS

      - Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment

      - Skill in reading blueprints and drawings

      - Skill in calculating conversions for concrete block and brick work

      - Skill in ordering necessary equipment

      - Skill in using a transit to measure elevation for concrete and site layout

      ABILITIES

      - Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments

      - Ability to communicate effectively

      - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

      - Ability to provide specifications for door orders, including size and recommended hardware

      - Ability to coordinate materials and scheduling of contractors for door installations and small renovations/small projects

      PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

      - Ability to drive or walk to customer/trouble locations

      - Ability to move or lift weights (such as ladders, tools, and equipment) weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance

      - Ability to climb

      - Ability to reach above shoulders frequently

      - Ability to kneel

      - Ability to bend repeatedly

      - Ability to pull and push repetitively

      OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

      State of Florida Class E operator license (required)
