  Carrier Operations Intern

  Reports To: Director – Tracking Operations

  Location: Chicago, IL

  Environment: Onsite

  Status: Non-Exempt; Hourly

  Work Schedule:

  This position is full-time, temporary, and onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with an hour break, but flexibility is available based on coverage.

  Purpose of Your Work:

  As a Carrier Operations Intern working within Redwood Multimodal (one of our entities), you will gain valuable insight into the transportation brokerage industry and get hands on experience working with carrier partners as well as internal subject matter experts.

  How You Make a Difference Everyday:

  During your internship, you will focus on three segments within the Carrier Operations group --

  1. CXM Operations

  • Track load life cycle from shipment to delivery
  • Dispatch drivers and communicate relevant updates to internal teams
  • E-tracking compliance
  • Submit necessary paperwork to issue payments for driver expenses
  • Book and send rate confirmations to carrier partners for dedicated lanes

  1. CXM DFB (Digital Freight Brokerage)

  • Confirm bookings after DFB acceptance
  • Request driver information and dispatch

  1. Sourcing

  • Contact legacy sourcing carriers to inquire about available equipment
  • Identify and engage underutilized carriers on prospect list
  • Call land history on low performing target lanes
