      Hennepin County's Office of Multi-Cultural Services within the Initial Contact and Assessment area of Health & Human Services is seeking two Case Management Assistants who are bilingual in Somali, to be part of a team that provides Hennepin County residents access to information services, and supports their needs allowing them to live healthy, safe, stable, and independent lives.

      Effective December 31, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range.

      Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit the employee referral program page .

      Location and hours:
      These positions are hybrid and will be located at the South Minneapolis Human Service Center at 2215 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407 with remote work as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

      New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

      In these positions, you will:
      • Seek out, interview, and assist people in need of agency services.
      • Provide assistance with applying for, renewing, and maintaining public benefits; assist with navigating county programs and understanding program requirements.
      • Complete the Broader Needs Assessment to assess residents’ needs and identify available resources.
      • Visit individuals and families in their homes when necessary to explain supportive services and resources available.
      • Attend and actively participate in community events, fairs and other community gatherings.
      • Arrange for transportation or transports clients and monitors service plans.

      Need to have:
      • One of the following:
        • Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
        • A two-year human services certificate.
        • Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences.
      • Ability to communicate fluently in Somali in addition to English, both verbally and in writing.
      • Access to reliable transportation to travel to service sites and residences within Hennepin County.
      Nice to have:
      • Experience:
        • Using databases and performing data entry where accuracy is essential.
        • Working with the Somali speaking community.
      • Ability to:
        • Work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and strong time management skills.
        • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
        • Make sound, independent judgment.
        • Work well in a group setting, be accountable to the team.
      Candidates with fluency in Somali in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
