      CASE MANAGER-DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES

      General Responsibilities

      To manage a caseload of students with disabilities and temporary impairments by reviewing accommodation requests, documentation and facilitating accommodations throughout the university. To facilitate communication between stakeholders, to assess and review students needs and to identify appropriate interventions that promote accessibility. To provide administrative support of student accommodations processes and to serve as an advocate for students by providing information on applicable resources.

      Key Duties & Responsibilities:

      1. Engages and facilitates the interactive process for providing reasonable accommodations. Conducts accommodation planning, informational, and concern meetings, and consults with faculty on accommodation implementation.

      2. Reviews disability documentation for a caseload of students with disabilities as assigned.

      3. Provides administrative support of student accommodations processes, including file maintenance, digital form updates, data reporting, data entry and file confidentiality.

      4. Serves as an advocate for students by providing information on applicable resources, responds to concerns in the UAB community and presents on accessibility.

      5. Collaborates with University departments to coordinate outreach efforts and ensure campus engagement with Disability Support Services (DSS).

      6. Performs other duties as assigned.

      Salary Range: $47,665 - $52,000

      Minimum Requirements

      Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Public Health or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

      Preferences

      • A background in disability, education, and/ or social services profession.

      • A high level of professional judgment, discretion, and sensitivity when engaging in the interactive process.

      • The position also balances administrative responsibilities such as data management and compliance with direct service, advocacy, and cross-campus collaboration to ensure accessibility and equitable experiences for students.

      • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

      • An understanding of disability and access issues on a college campus is vital to the day-to-day performance.

      • The ability to manage confidential meetings, documentation and ability to present to large audiences.
