      About Our Job

This is a limited position with an end date of June 2026 and the possibility to be extended.

The Department of Public Safety (DOS) unifies all the agencies tasked with ensuring Denver is the safest and most welcoming city in the nation. Denver’s Public Safety Department includes Denver Police, Denver Fire, Denver 911, Denver Sheriff, Community Corrections and also oversees the Public Safety Cadet Program.

The Department of Safety is currently looking for a Case Manager to join our Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) team. LEAD is an extension of public safety and is based on a national model that offers case management services to people with unmet behavioral health needs. People are referred through a coordinated response process that supports officer discretion in referring and diverting criminal violations to service engagement, for eligible charges, at the point of pre-arrest. This response includes trauma-informed care, wraparound services, and harm reduction principles.

Candidates can expect to work a Monday - Friday, 8:00A-5:00P schedule. This position is not currently or will be in the future eligible for remote work.

      The Case Manager duties include:

      • Receive warm hand-offs from law enforcement diversions and referrals, which may sometimes include referrals from other criminal justice or community partners such as prosecution, defense, or Roads to Recovery (R2R). The Case Manager will provide screening to gauge program suitability, create a plan for safety and follow-up alongside the officer.

      • Work with clients to complete a biopsychosocial assessment, client-centered goal plan, and provide individualized and intensive case management and support toward goal attainment.

      • Carry low caseloads (average of 15-18 active participants), with the goal of maximizing capacity to provide intensive case management services.

      • Engage in on-going coaching, motivation, engagement, facilitate problem-solving with clients, and empower them to resolve immediate and recurring problems and barriers to receiving and/or participating in services or programs. Monitors eligibility for services by ensuring clients are following through with their agreed-upon responsibilities.

      • Meet clients in their communities where they are at, as needed and appropriate and provide wraparound support. Wraparound services may include food, clothing/hygiene needs, housing, supplies, forms, transportation, and other needs that warrant proactive resource navigation and outreach in the community.

      • Monitor and track client’s participation, follows up on any problems or issues that arise. Maintain and update files and databases by recording client contacts and coordinates and maintains records to comply with State grant and local requirements and regulations.

      • Build professional relationships and networks with criminal justice referral partners, outside community resources, and service providers. Facilitates the delivery of their services to ensure expedited and continued services and resources for client success.

      • By position, will work out of the Police Administration Building (PAB).
