      Dauphin County Social Services for Children & Youth is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Caseworker 1. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences field may be eligible for a Caseworker 2 position with a higher starting rate.       The Caseworker 1 performs entry level social service casework and case management supportive services for children, their families, and others to assist them in attaining a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional, or physical adjustment. This position performs a variety of duties such as investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect, conductinginterviews, assessing needs,case planning, placing children in foster or adoptive homes or institutions, and making referrals to other public and private social services and community agencies to meet the needs of children and families. The Caseworker 1 works under close supervision of a Casework Supervisor.

      A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and an associate’s degree which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training and an associate’s degree which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 2 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

      A resume along with a copy of either an official or unofficial college transcript must be attached to the application.

      Transcripts must include: 1) Name of the Applicant, 2) School Name, 3) Full list of academic coursework, 4) Degree (if awarded).

      A valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable reference checks are required.
