Collects cash and rings up food sales according to established procedures.
Transports monies between the cafeteria and business office with a security guard by following established procedure.
Maintains accurate records on meal counts, cash receipts from paying customers and non-collected revenue from guests and volunteers daily to reflect the current menu.
Counts out cash at end of the shift with no more than three documented instances of shortages or overages.
Changes menu boards daily to reflect current menu. Items are correctly spelled, priced and labeled as evidenced by supervisor's observation.
Reports customers' complaints and problems which might arise in a timely manner.
Position requires the ability to accurately handle cash, make change, balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift, operate cash registers, POS systems, and other payment processing equipment to handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately.
Position requires ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time and lift light objects less than 20 lbs.
Normal Food Service/Cafeteria environment including frequent exposure to unpleasant noises and stress due to long lines of customers.
Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
A minimum of one (1) year of related job experience is required.
Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff in a courteous manner and handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively.
Basic math skills to be able to accurately add and subtract, handle transactions and make change.
Ability to read, write, and speak English and to understand written and oral instructions is required.

Come join the Food & Nutrition team at Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England! We are a member of the nationwide Trinity Health family, bringing compassionate care to our communities.
Position Purpose:Under the direction of the Manager, Food & Nutrition Services Operations, the cafeteria cashier operates the cash register and collects cash of approximately $3500 daily in an efficient, accurate and courteous manner. Responsible for maintaining records and statistics.
