      READVERTISMENT

      ****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

      Temporary/Permanent: Temporary full-time, up to 89 days

      Duties and Responsibilities

      1. Assists the Commuter Services parking office during high peak periods that include but not limited to permit processing and permit distribution.
      2. Distributes parking instructions to personnel and assists with distribution of parking restricted parking lists, and briefing commuter staff.
      3. Assists the Commuter Services Special Events team during high peak periods.
      4. Assists with training and supervision of student assistants and contracted service employees in the special events and maintenance section.
      5. Provides management with feedback on student and temporary employees work performance.
      6. Interacts with the public on a regular basis. Provides information on special event parking.
      7. Distributes parking instructions to personnel and assists with distribution of parking restricted parking lists, and briefing commuter staff.
      8. Other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications

      1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Science, Arts and Humanities, Education, or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience, or equivalent education/training or experience.
      2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in business administration or related field.
      3. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in business administration or related field.
      4. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
      5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
      6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
      7. Ability to work beyond normal hours, including evenings and weekends.
      8. Ability to operate License Plate recognition (2 door vehicle).
      9. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.


      Desirable Qualifications

      1. Work experience dealing with the general public in a friendly and tactful manner.

      2. Some experience with customer service skills

      3. Able to communicate effectively with the public.
