Job Description

- Responsible for cattle procurement and associated activities within region based on plant location
- Responsible for cattle procurement from cattle feeders and livestock auctions
- Work with independent contractors to satisfy cattle needs for the company
- Work with cattle feeders to monitor cattle numbers in their respective area
- Work with cattle feeders to monitor contracted cattle to ensure quality and availability
- Monitor the competition and their process
- Successfully execute bidding procedures and prices
- Employee will typically work M-F with some weekend hours as needed - approximately 70% of work time will be traveling throughout the region
- Frequent communication with Head Cattle Buyer, Coworkers, Accounting Department and other plant personnel regarding purchasing, quality, and quality of live cattle
- Frequent communication with Farmers and Truckers regarding purchase, quality, quantity and delivery of live cattle
- High School Diploma, GED or higher, with Agriculture knowledge and background required
- Previous experience in Cattle Procurement is strongly preferred
- Ability to visually asses grade and potential yield of cattle
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to physically maneuver among and manipulate live cattle
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel as needed for the position

- Base salary range of $50,000 - $60,000; and
- This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
