- Ability to provide effective care pathways. Well-established case management skills.
- Knowledge and awareness regarding mental health problems and their impact on young people and their families.
- Knowledge and existing skills regarding a range of therapeutic interventions and their application to practice for a wide range of mental health presentations. Including a sound knowledge of theory and its application to evidence based practice.
- Ability to use Windows-based information technology.
- Good communication skills and the ability to relate to children, young people, families and professionals.
- Ability to write appropriate reports, case records and to manage a case load effectively.
- Ability to analyse information and identify a childs mental health needs and how they might be met using evidence based practice
- Ability to provide effective interventions, experience of facilitating group work, training and consultation
- Understanding of the reasons why successful partnership working is critical to good outcomes for children. Ability to work within a multi disciplinary team and with partners to achieve positive outcomes for families.
- Ability and experience of working with a range of agencies and other professionals and forming positive working relationships.

Job summary
About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our team and undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Reading in starting February 2025.The appointed candidate will work as part of Targeted CAMHS in Nottingham City.The training involves teaching blocks as well as weekly teaching and supervision days at the University of Reading. Applicants must be willing to travel to Reading.
The course you will be completing at the University of Reading as part of this role is a Level 2 accredited course with BABCP. This means that upon completion trainees will meet criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP.
To apply, you must meet the criteria for CBT training and also have a BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or related areas. This means having a recognised Core Profession. You can find out whether you have a recognised Core Professionhere.
If you do not have a Core Profession, you must complete a portfolio of evidence to show that you have equivalent training and experience. This is known as the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes portfolio (KSA). If applying via the KSA route, you must have completed a self-statement for KSA criterion 4 before interview and, if successful at interview, will need to prepare the other required sections ahead of the start of the course (including obtaining references). Main duties of the job
If you have undertaken low-intensity CBT training (e.g., PWP, CWP or EMHP) you must have at least 2 years experience between the exam board of your previous training (not just coursework completion or a letter from the department) and the start date of any high-intensity training. This is nationally mandated and is there are no exceptions; you will be asked to evidence your exam board date (or date of graduation certificate if no evidence of exam board) prior to invite to interview.
