Excellent Classroom Management Skills

Endorsation and methodology courses in the appropriate Subject area and level

Endorsation in Music preferred.

Classroom music teachers should hold a degree or diploma in music/music education. A solid understanding of music pedagogy with a background in music methodology courses is required. Orff and/or Kodaly certification or training is also recommended.

Instrumental music teachers should hold a music/music education degree and have extensive experience in music performance including wind band. A firm knowledge and experience in both conducting and instrumental techniques, and a solid understanding of music pedagogy with a background in instrumental methodology courses is required. Commitment to rehearsals outside of regular school hours are frequently expected and are considered part of contact time.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Following the shortlisting and interview process, those selected could be offered a probationary or term contract with CBVRCE. Salary and benefits are as outlined in the Nova Scotia Teachers Provincial Agreement. Specific positions (Grade, school, etc) will be available at a later date and communicated to successful applicants.
Employment with the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is contingent upon providing a satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry check.
