Manages benefit administration transactions as primary resource for an identified portfolio of clients and aids other team colleagues as needed.
Utilizes internal training materials and resources to accurately manage benefit administration transactions in accordance with plan rules and client processes.
Performs tasks in accordance with ongoing deadlines to ensure payroll deduction and carrier feed accuracy.
Generates reports to identify needed elections and complete transaction updates as needed.
Manages support triage for internal and external inquiries/requests associated with administration support. Assigns support tickets to the appropriate colleagues, responds to inquiries within 1-2 business days and closes outstanding tickets as tasks are completed.
Processes notifications (QLE reminders, insufficient documentation, incomplete life event notices, etc.) within 1-2 business days of life event submission.
Removes maximum age dependents from coverage per defined termination logic and appropriately flags the benefit changes for COBRA notifications.
Removes ineligible dependents from coverage per defined termination logic, appropriately flags dependent as ineligible.
Processes employee status change enrollments, surcharge updates, voluntary benefit cancellations, qualified medical child support enrollment and other miscellaneous events as needed.
Provides carriers with urgent coverage updates for extenuating circumstances.
Supports dual plan maintenance and manual updates for elections processed during plan year transition period.
Enters notes in employee record upon processing changes.
Monitors automated processes associated with benefit administration functions and provides feedback or alerts internal resources of errors as needed
Informs Operations Specialist III of unique cases that require additional review, large projects/processing files received or escalation items.
Informs Operations Manager of process/plan changes, document discrepancies and internal or external requests outside scope of standard services.
Engages with other Alight internal resources to provide exceptional support across all lines of service.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree preferred
SmartBen or Benefit Administration/HRIS Platform experience a plus

The Operations Team provides year-round transactional, benefit administration support to clients that have purchased Administration Support services. The primary function of the Customer Care Client Specialist is to support daily tasks associated with Administration Support Services. The role requires partnership with the Platform Delivery Analyst, Data Analyst and Employee Benefit Resource Center teams to ensure accuracy, meet service expectations and provide an excellent employee experience.
Job type and status: Full time, Non-Exempt Hourly.
Work schedule: 5 days/week M-F, 8am – 5pm, 40 hours

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $35,600.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $44,000.00/year (for full-time employees).
