Job Description
- Req#: 11050
- Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training
- Carry-out and practice all safety practices per MSHA/company rules and regulations
- Assist QC Manager with all tasks including collecting aggregate samples from Yard, lab work, worksite duties, observe testing techniques on-site, be able to direct concrete trucks on site according to a laid out plan, inputting data from testing, etc.
- Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
- Attend summer intern orientation event at corporate headquarters in Glendora, CA
- Perform lab tasks as assigned
Job Summary
CalPortland is seeking a summer intern in the Crestmore Laboratory. This intern will assist with the preparation and testing of cement and concrete formulations for physical and chemical properties. The intern will learn about cement producers for improving the quality, performance, and sustainability of the construction industry.
Compensation
$18.50-$24.00/hr DOE
Responsibilities
Education
Currently pursuing bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical/materials engineering, civil engineering, geology, or another related field.
Requirements/Qualifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Good attendance and punctual
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform physical labor in inclement weather
• Genuine interest in lab work
Preferred:Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
