      We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team in the development, coordination, and administration of one of the Court's specialized programs. This role involves providing caseworker services, offering training and coordination, and supervising the maintenance of the detention census. Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent, this position allows significant autonomy in designing work methods and techniques.


      Key Responsibilities:

      1. Detention Admissions Coverage:
        • Serve as the Census Control Officer for all intake cases involving detention admissions without an assigned probation officer or caseworker.
        • Manage intake cases admitted to detention, excluding those already assigned to probation officers/caseworkers or state caseworkers.
        • This position will work in concert with the Court Liaison position who will be assigned to cover detention admissions when the Central Control Officer is off duty. The Assistant Superintendent (Administration) will act in his/her stead when neither the Census Control Officer or Court Liaison is available.
      2. Policy Development:
        • Design and regularly update policies and procedures for specialized programs.
      3. Public Relations:
        • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant agencies interacting with youth.
      4. Consultation:
        • Provide guidance and consultation to probation staff.
      5. Case Management:
        • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
        • Maintains records for the usage of the Priority Release Screening Tool.
      6. Progress Reporting:
        • Prepare detailed progress reports for court hearings as required.
      Other detention related tasks assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
      • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or a human services-related field, with at least one year of experience working with delinquent juveniles in a child welfare agency or human services role.

      A Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, or a related field is strongly preferred.

      • Knowledge:
        • Comprehensive understanding of principles and methods associated with personal and social problem-solving.
        • In-depth knowledge of factors contributing to delinquency, neglect, and abuse of children.
        • Strong grasp of family dynamics and the impact of social conditions on family functionality.
        • Thorough familiarity with the juvenile justice system and children’s service programs.
        • Expertise in the principles, procedures, and techniques of child welfare practices.
      • Skills and Abilities:
        • Proficiency in applying social casework methods to child welfare services.
        • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the public and individuals on caseloads.
        • Capability to supervise, train, and guide subordinates and volunteers.
        • Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with juveniles, court system employees, law enforcement personnel, community agency representatives, and fellow staff members.
        • Skill in gaining the trust and cooperation of children.
