JOB DESCRIPTION Counselors are responsible for a group of 15 to 20 children on a daily basis. During that time they ensure children's safety, manage children's behavior and act as a role model and mentor, Counselor's model constructive participation in all daily activities and work closely with the camp directors to ensure safety of all children. Counselors must be at least 16 years of age. All Counselors must participate in the training offered before camp begins. QUALIFICATIONS: At least 16 years of age (Camp Counselor) Demonstrate experience working with children Demonstrated experience working with children ages 6- 12 and at all skill levels Ability to aid in teaching recreational activities Demonstrate an excellent character, including the qualities of responsibility, integrity and adaptability Ability to follow a structured schedule on a timely basis Demonstrate humor, patience and self-control Need to be available for mandatory training Available 7:00- 6:00 pm Monday through Fridays Need to be available for training, which will be announced. If a returning graduate, must pass the mandatory screening RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for any and all tasks of each particular age group Recognize and respond to problem solving opportunities Responsible for sharing ideas and working effectively with certified teachers Monitor and assist in the use of camper electronic devices Guide and encourage campers to participate at all times Supervise and assist instructors in any and all tasks Observe, assess, and enforce all safety regulations at all times Communicate any and all daily concerns with the camp coordinators Keep site clean, safe and functioning Set up equipment, water stations, coolers and keep all camp spaces well maintained Compensation: $15.13/hr Please note the following: -NO USE OF CELL PHONE during assigned work shift -NO POSTING on social media regarding the camp, campers or camp related activities Counselors disregarding these conditions of employment will be subject to disciplinary procedures.
