      Job Title

      Ceramic/Materials R&D Engineer II

      As an R&D Engineer II, you will provide engineering support and technical guidance to material, product, and process development programs. In this role, you will focus on synthesis, processing, and evaluation of non-oxide ceramics.

      Roles & Responsibilities:

      • With limited direction, conducts engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures.
      • Participate significantly in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures.
      • Contribute to project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities.
      • Devise basic research methods and documents results and procedures.
      • Operate process and test equipment with an understanding of functionality based on underlying engineering principles.
      • Exercise responsibility for specific pieces of processing and/or analytical equipment.
      • Work collaboratively with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company.
      • Participate in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.

      Job Requirements:

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, and at least three years relevant experience;
      • Or: Masters degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering

      Experience & Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      • Experience processing ceramic materials including formulation, batching, forming, and densification.
      • Experience with analytical techniques related to mechanical or electrical properties of ceramic materials.
      • Experience with non-oxide ceramics preferred.
      • Experience operating pressure-assisted furnaces and inert-environment furnaces preferred.
      • Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, engineering science and ceramic processing.
      • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
      • Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.
      • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

      Target Hiring Range

      Annual Salary: USD 90,196.00 - USD 119,059.00
