Job Description

- Deliver full-scope midwifery care, including:
- Preventative health services
- Prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum care
- Gynecological exams and family planning
- Collaborate with OBGYN physicians to build a cohesive CNM service line
- Diagnose, monitor, and manage pregnancies, including high-risk cases with appropriate referrals
- Develop, assess, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Provide prenatal education and support, including group prenatal care using the Centering Pregnancy model
- Offer counseling and emotional support for pregnancy loss, complications, and neonatal outcomes
- Educate patients on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
- Coordinate with healthcare and social service professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Document all patient interactions and care plans in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prescribe medications, order diagnostics, and therapeutic tests (e.g., labs, imaging)
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational committees
- Attend at least:
- 2 of 3 annual NP/PA Whole Group Meetings
- 75% of department-specific meetings
- Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
- Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.
- Current Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification and eligibility for clinical privileges
- Active, unencumbered licensure to practice as a CNM in the State of Maine
- Active DEA license
- Active BLS
- Strong knowledge of healthcare procedures and midwifery best practices
- Willingness to become a Certified Centering Facilitator
- Excellent counseling, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make independent clinical decisions and solve problems effectively
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
- Experience with EMR systems preferred

Led by our highly trained and board-certified physicians, the Obstetrics and Gynecology team provides care and support for every stage of your life. Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides comprehensive care to patients across the reproductive lifespan, including preventative care, prenatal and perinatal services, childbirth, and gynecological care. This role collaborates closely with OBGYN physicians to deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient care to InterMed OBGYN patients.
