SUMMARY OF JOBThe Certified Medical Oncology Coder is responsible for ensuring all diagnoses and procedures are coded appropriately for all Outpatient Medical Oncology Unit (MOU) injections, infusions, transfusions, chemotherapy and radiation oncology claims. Accurate abstraction and or validation of data pertaining to each encounter in accordance with Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set. This position will need to remain current on coding and billing regulations as it pertains to Oncology, Hematology, and Radiology as well as any CPT, ICD10 or HCPCS updates. Supports the department in coordination of the Charge Master to design the capture of associated coding and billing for radiation and medical oncology. Works cooperatively as a team with revenue cycle, hospital and management associates. Provides courteous and professionals assistance with coding questions from physician, clinical team and other departments. The successful candidate must have exceptional computer, communication and organizational skills.

RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTSSuccessful completion of Certified Coding Exam required; CCS or CPC.
Oncology Certification a plus.
Additionally, three years of medical oncology coding experience preferred or in lieu of experience the CHONC is required. Proficient with computer systems and Microsoft. (Office Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel )
