What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide professional and technical assistance regarding potential poisonings to health professionals and the public
- Coordinate poison services, perform referral services, and maintain documentation and records
- Stay updated on the latest developments in poison information and integrate knowledge into work practices
- Participate in data and research projects, ensuring accountability for progress
- Serve as a preceptor or trainer to newer staff members
What is Required (Qualifications):
- ASN or BSN Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing; OR B Pharm or D Pharm Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy; OR Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) Degree
- One (1) year of verifiable experience as a certified Poison Information Specialist
- Must have and maintain a current American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) Poison Information Specialist certification
- RN's Only: Must have current/valid State of TX RN license or valid temporary permit; or, valid Compact RN license in good standing without stipulations
- Pharmacist's Only: Must be a State of TX Registered Pharmacist or become registered within 90 days of hire
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 0-2 years of experience as a Poison Information Specialist
- Previous experience in toxicology, emergency, or critical care services
