      Auckland One Rail (AOR) is a joint venture formed by Comfort Delgro Group and UGL, providing whole of life asset maintenance and engineering services, including rollingstock preventative and corrective maintenance, Overhauls and refurbishment programs. AOR operates the Auckland passenger rail services and maintains the associated stations, depots, and train fleet as part of achieving excellence in customer service. This includes the provision of strong financial oversight to control costs and improve margin and ensuring Contractual Compliance, adherence to Franchise Agreement obligations and milestones and negotiation and effective management of sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure contractual compliance and effective financial management. The Chief Financial Officer will mentor and supervise the Auckland One Rail team in maintaining commercial compliance and adherence to the Franchise Agreement and related contracts. This role will also be required to use appropriate analysis to develop and then implement effective solutions to complex commercial issues relating to the franchise. It will also include establishing and maintaining a comprehensive reporting system for the franchise. The Chief Financial Officer is accountable for ensuring that the ICT environment is fully operational, secure and maintains efficiency through continuous innovation. This role will also ensure that financial and ethical governance is maintained, particularly around strong focus on the cash position of the franchise. Responsibilities • Lead the commercial and finance function across the AOR by ensuring that the commercial positions of both joint venture partners are managed effectively, • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of AORs operational, commercial and customer service needs and an in-depth knowledge of all third party agreements, including CAF and KiwiRail, and their impact on client obligations to ensure value for money is achieved from all existing agreements, • Build strong and productive working relationships with Auckland One Rail leaders and supervisors and drive a customer-focused, business partnering service ethos across all areas of Finance, Commercial and ICT, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of all services, • Build, lead and manage a strong, effective and highly engaged team capable of delivering required objectives, • Build capability within the Finance, Commercial and ICT teams including succession planning, • Prepare and deliver AORs annual budget, • Manage AORs financial reporting requirements delivering relevant, accurate financial reports to the AOR Board and Leadership team including monthly, quarterly, six monthly, annually and ad hoc, • Produce profit & loss, balance sheets, provide information regarding financial accounts, maintain fixed asset register and manage AORs cash flow and out-turn budgets, • Manage and deliver our annual financial and commercial plan objectives within budget and agreed KPIs, • Produce statutory and special purpose accounts in accordance with NZ GAAP and IFRS (or any other relevant standards the company has adopted), • Lead the commercial strategy, delivery and team across the AOR rail business including the development, implementation and then delivery of strong commercial governance and controls, • Build and maintain an effective strategic partnership with the key people of Auckland Transport ensuring contract obligations and workflows comply with AORs Franchise Agreement providing accurate, timely management and financial information as required, • Negotiate, influence and manage ATs expectations through the demonstration of credible expertise, solid business acumen and by proactively seeking clarification and feedback. • Develops and implements the overall Information Technology (IT) strategy and architecture for the company, • Ensures the provision of services and initiatives including IT projects, targets and business development objectives are achieved through effective leadership, Essential Criteria • Minimum of 10 years’ experience at management level in a finance environment in a similar industry or company, • Solid knowledge and experience of financial management reporting systems and IT systems • Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budget, reporting of financial performance processes, • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to customers, advanced writing ability and delivering clear, concise and accurate advice to people at all levels in a professional manner. • High level experience in leading, motivating and influencing staff, driving and evaluating work objectives for improved service performance across strategically aligned functions. • Ability to achieve outcomes in an environment of managing complex stakeholder relationships, including key business partners. • An advanced knowledge of contracts and legal terminology.
